Minimally Invasive Therapy Gave Stage II Lung Cancer Patient Confidence to Fight Cancer

SOMSRI BHUTTAKHUN, 66 years old, is a stage II lung cancer patient coming from Thailand. In 2016, SOMSRI started to show symptom of cough and it got worse with blood in sputum a month later. So she took checkup in local hospital and was diagnosed with stage II lung cancer. The bad news made her and family upset and worried. They all looked forward to finding solution.

Back then, doctors in Thailand suggested her take systemic chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, therefore, she underwent two sessions of chemotherapy. Her condition didn’t get better. Considering the toxic side effects she suffered in the treatment, she refused to take the succeeding chemotherapy.

Rejecting systemic chemotherapy and searching for advanced treatment for cancer

SOMSRI accidentally heard about St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou from a friend, who also suffered cancer and yielded good efficacy after taking treatment in MCHG. She immediately searched about MCHG and signed for the symposium to be held in Bangkok. On the symposium, cancer expert introduced interventional therapy, which features advantages of few side effects and quick recovery comparing with systemic chemotherapy. With a brief understanding of the hospital, she decided to take treatment in China.

Interventional therapy and cryotherapy shrink the tumor

On March 22, together with her husband, SOMSRI arrived at MCHG. CT Scans indicated tumor in her right lung with metastases to liver and mediastinum. MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) immediately conducted a discussion and came up with a combined treatment of interventional therapy and cryotherapy.

Upon admission, SOMSRI suffered cough with blood in sputum. She became tired after a short-distance walk. Her condition was in rather critical condition. Later she underwent interventional therapy and cryotherapy. Among all advanced cancer therapies, these two therapies are high-targeted with small trauma and few damage to normal tissues. Therefore, she didn’t suffer any side effect and her condition changed for better after the 4th session of treatment. All symptoms she suffered before disappeared. Currently, it’s her 5th admission, the tumor in her lung and lesions of metastases all shrank and she regained good appetite and sound sleep with good condition.

“I was scared while taking the first session of treatment. As I didn’t suffer pain during the procedure and my condition became much better after treatment. My families are so glad and satisfied to witness my recovery. There’s no such advanced equipment and therapies in Thailand. Thanks to interventional therapy and cryotherapy here, which helps me avoid side effects and yield good result.

I cherish sincere thanks to my attending doctor and medical staff here for advanced technology and attentive care. Thank you all.” SOMSRI expressed with joy and gratitude.

Encouraging other cancer patients

Before discharge, SOMSRI encourage other cancer patients with words, if you got cancer, take time and find appropriate treatment, MCHG can help you with so many advanced cancer treatment. I have faith in treatment here and I experienced it myself. But most importantly, you need to encourage yourself, don’t be afraid, don’t give up and hang on.

How We Treat Cancer?

Interventional Therapy

Interventional Therapy is a new substitute of traditional chemotherapy, which means that a physician introduces instruments such as needles or catheters (long, thin tubes) into the body through tiny(1-2 mm) incisions in the skin. The instruments are then guided by an imaging technique called fluoroscopy to the cancer tumor. In this way, the physician can deliver cancer medicine directly to the tumor.more info

Cryotherapy Therapy

Cryotherapy Therapy, also known as “Argon-Helium Knife Cryotherapy”, is a new substitute of traditional physical therapy. Practically speaking it is “extreme cold + extreme heat” cancer treatment. Generally, a minimum of 10-15 minutes is required to achieve an extreme analgesic (pain relieving) effect while lowering the temperature to the injured area, thus reducing the metabolic rate and swelling associated with tissue injury.more info

Particle Knife

Particle Knife is a new substitute of traditional radiation therapy. With the help of computer Treatment Planning System (TPS), radioactive particles will be implanted into tumors. The particles which release γ-rays can continuously kill tumor and cause destruction targeting tumor cells. With time, the radiation amount would accumulate to be large enough to destroy the DNA double strands of tumor cells.more info
